Submission by Brad

Mom, you sent me this small card with this painting on it when we lived in Guam. It was your way of reminding me to be safe and to rely on inspiration from Heavenly Father and Jesus to stay safe. I would tell you about  the typhoons and earthquakes and I know that you were concerned about me so far away. Thank you for your tenderness and loving kindness.
I love you with all of my heart.

Thanks, Grandma Chapman!

Gage got so excited yesterday when we checked the mail and there was a cute Christmas envelope just for him!

We opened it up together and he picked up the McDonald's card and said,

"This is my debit card."

Ha!

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Chapman! We are going to take him to get an ice cream sundae tomorrow and we'll be thinking about you the whole time!

Submission by Brad - I Spent Saturday with Grandma & Grandpa C.

I spent Saturday with Mom and Dad. I arrived Saturday night and left Sunday morning. Mom got a neat walker that she can sit down on when she gets tired and I helped her do some exercises with it. There was an inversion going on in the valley so it was foggy and gloomy outside while I was there.

When I was getting ready to go on my mission, I worked at a place called Hatfield Wire and Cable. It was a company that made all kinds of insulated copper wire. At one point I was put on the graveyard shift and it wasn't fun. I would go to work at 11 pm and get home at 7am in the morning. Mom would stay up with me until I left for work and it meant a lot to me. She would make me a boloney, cheese, lettuce, and pickle sandwich which was my favorite. It wasn't a fun job. At one am in the morning when I ate my sandwich it was a nice little break from a very monotonous job. The place was huge and had forklift streets inside of the building that had stop signs and traffic signs. To stay awake some of the workers took illegal drugs so there was a narcotics agent that worked incognito  at the plant. The guys I worked with were scary. When I got home in the morning Mom would greet  me as I took off my coat and collapsed in my bed. I eventually got laid off which was a blessing to me. The price of copper dropped and the plant shut down for a time. Mom was with me when I drove to Wasatch Shadows Nursery and got a job for the last couple of months before I went on my mission. Thanks, Mom, for being there for me. I love you with all of my heart.    Brad

The evergreen in Grandma & Grandpa's front yard is decorated!

I (Brad) just arrived at G & G Chapman's house to spend the weekend.

Bishop Buck, a former Bishop of G & G Chapman decorated the evergreen in their front yard for Christmas. It is BEAUTIFUL!

This is a photo taken with the flash but you can see how many lights are on the tree.

Jace's Picture for Grandma

Dear Grandma,

Jace's favorite thing in the whole world is Halo (and Golden Grahams).  So when I asked him if he would like to draw you a picture, his face lit up and he said, "YES!!  I am going to draw her a Halo battle!  And she will LOVE it!  It's going to make her SOOOOOOOOOO excited!!  She's going to jump on the couch and say 'I LOVE THIS HALO BATTLE!'."

Jace also wants you to know he LOVES YOU!

Grandma is my FAVORITE.

From the moment I met Grandma, she has always been so radient, happy, cheerful, charismatic, joyful and full of fun.  I remember the first time Trevor took me to meet Grandma and Grandpa; she gave me a big hug and made me feel as if I was already part of the family.  She told me all kinds of stories of Trevor growing up, then she brought out the big family picture album, dropped down on the floor, and poured over pictures with me as if we were two sixteen year olds at a slumber party.  It was so fun!

Grandma always has a cookie jar full of my very favorite chewy chocolate chip cookies that I just *know* she has in the house only for me.  She usually tries to sneak the whole bag along with Jace as we pack up to leave after a visit.

I love the picture of Grandma in her sassy red dress when she was a young women with Grandpa-- she is the perfect mix of beauty, grace, and charm.

I have spent more time with Grandma in these short six years than I have with all of my Grandmas on my side.  I truly feel that Grandma is my Grandma and I love and appreciate her so much and hope I can be just as fun, happy, spirited, witty, charming, charismatic, gracious, graceful, beautiful, and loving as she is when I am in my golden years.

I love you, Grandma!

Love,

Caci

Mom, you've always been right there for me. I love you and appreciate you!

Mom, helping me coil the new GOLDLINE climbing rope that I got for my birthday. This is at a favorite place of ours, a place called Fool Creek. It is down by Oak City, Utah. The date on the photo says - MAY 74 - so I would have been 16 years old.

Lizzy and Kathy,  climbing around on the rocks at Fool Creek.

Me, rappelling off of the big cliff at Fool Creek. My dad took all of these photos with a camera that I also got for my birthday.

I LOVE YOU WITH ALL OF MY HEART,  BRAD

Submission By Brad - An unexpected gift of love from my mom!

I was scared!  I was walking out on the tarmac to the plane that was going to take me away for two years. I was trying to act brave. I had just left the arms of my tearful parents and siblings. I sat down on the plane and desperately searched out the window to get a last look at my family. The plane pulled away from the terminal and I leaned back in the seat with my eyes closed and prayed to Father in Heaven to give me strength and courage. For some reason I reached down into the pocket of my suit coat and felt a paper that I hadn't noticed before. I pulled out the object and was immediately filled with courage and hope and happiness and joy. I have treasured this object my whole life and have shared it with very few. I carefully put it back in my pocket, looked out the window to see Salt Lake City disappear in the distance and with a tear and a smile and squared shoulders I laid my head back on the seat as the plane banked and headed for Japan.

Mom, I love you with all of my heart!    Brad
